SovietArmy.com Discussion Forum

Thursday, March 29, 2001 – 02:47 pm Thank you, Fred, for an informative website. After a brief browse it seems that the hat is actually an Army Artillery cap; someone just stuck the Krylja Sovjetov pin on the top.

I always did think that a pilot ought to have a bit more cranium space. Knowing that it’s an artillery officer’s hat explains the size

We have a saying in the Finnish army that goes “Be stupid if you can’t help it, but don’t be in the artillery”. Hmm. It doesn’t translate very well, it’s more concise in Finnish. Oh well.
